Lacrosse Field Construction
Athletic Fields of America builds synthetic turf lacrosse fields for high schools, colleges, clubs, and municipal recreation departments across the Northeast. Lacrosse is one of the fastest-growing sports in the country, and we build dedicated and multi-use lacrosse fields that hold up to the sport’s heavy stick, cleat, and ball impact.
What We Build
Our lacrosse field projects are built to regulation specifications and typically include:
- Regulation synthetic turf lacrosse fields — men's, women's, and youth configurations
- Multi-use field layouts — lacrosse alongside soccer, football, or field hockey with proper line striping
- Custom logos, midfield markings, and end-line graphics — tufted in-house for clean, permanent results
- Drainage and base systems — engineered for Northeast freeze-thaw cycles and storm water demands
- Surrounding infrastructure — goals and goal cages, fencing, ball netting, bleachers, lighting, walkways, and parking
Built for the Demands of Lacrosse
Lacrosse is hard on a playing surface. Quick directional changes, heavy stick contact, ground balls, and constant ball impact wear out natural grass and lower-tier turf systems within a couple of seasons. We select turf systems with the pile height, density, and infill characteristics built for lacrosse — better shock absorption for slides and checks, consistent footing for cleats, and a surface that maintains ball speed and bounce.
The result is a field that plays the same in March as it does in May, handles back-to-back varsity and youth games, and holds up to daily practice without thinning out or developing dead spots.
Multi-Use Flexibility
Most schools and recreation departments don’t build a field exclusively for lacrosse — they need one surface that serves multiple sports across spring and fall seasons. We design multi-use fields with line striping and markings that work for lacrosse, soccer, field hockey, and football without compromising any of them. Different line colors, contrasting boundaries, and turf specs that perform across sports.
Full Project Scope
We’re not just a turf installer. We’re a general contractor that builds complete lacrosse field facilities:
Site work and grading
Proper grading and compaction are the foundation of a field that drains correctly and plays consistently for years.
Drainage engineering
Designed for each site’s specific soil, slope, and stormwater requirements.
Amenities and structures
Goals, ball netting, fencing, bleachers, lighting, scoreboards, walkways, parking — everything the facility needs beyond the playing surface.
Project management
One point of contact from design through final walkthrough. We coordinate with architects, engineers, municipalities, and school boards.
